As we are nearing the end of our kitchen renovation, I am already starting to see things that I wish we did differently and things that I am so so so thankful for! Without a doubt, the Sinkology fireclay farmhouse sink is a resounding YES! We ended up going with the kit so we had the sink and faucet combo with some helpful extras like the sink grate.
Installing the sink wasn’t too difficult. Throughout this process I have discovered that hubs is actually super handy! Something I’m sure he wished he kept secret because my “honey do list” is more extensive these days! Sinkology has a handy instillation guide that was helpful! Even still, the scariest part of the installation was cutting out the front of our brand new cabinets. Goodness knows we measured a million times before we made that first cut!
After we cut out the front of the cabinets, we had to build the support. The sink should rest about 1/8” below the counter if you are wanting an undermount sink so again, measure twice and cut once!
Once the sink was completely level and secure on its supports, hubs caulked around the sink to secure it. When the counters came and the plumber installed the Pfister faucet, I just wanted to look at her. She’s the most beautiful sink ever! Literally the sink of my dreams! That’s probably one of the most adult things I’ve ever said haha!
Our kitchen still isn’t complete. We are going on 10 months since we demoed. But things go slowly when you do a lot of the work yourselves… and when you have a newborn baby halfway through haha. We still have painting and trim work and backsplash tile to install but I just KNEW I had to give y’all and update on the sink in the meantime. We have been using it for several weeks and it’s just as glorious as ever! Doing dishes is now my favorite mom job. And don’t even get me started about the adorableness that is a chubby baby sink bath! I just feel so blessed that when we designed our kitchen, I was pregnant with a Dorothie and planned the whole kitchen around those chubby baby sink baths. Now she’s here. And the sink is installed. And I’m so freaking obsessed!!!
