frost & frosting

Bluejay drives a pick-up truck. It's pretty hot. Nothing like seeing your love step out of a rusty truck. Like I said... hot! I like to envision him in wranglers and cowboy boot & hat. I may be a city girl, but I sure love my hick husband! But it's not a realistic vehicle for the harsh & snowy Mn winters. When the roads are icy, I drive Bluejay to work in the morning and pick him up in the evening. At first it was annoying to plan my day around being his chauffeur. But now it's one of my favorite parts of the day. We get to spend time talking and flirting. It's the best way to start the day. I love being able to serve him in that way. After I dropped him off yesterday, I walked to the lake by his office and I snapped these pictures. It was magical. The sun was just rising over the horizon. The trees were covered in frost from the previous nights fog. I wish I had my DSLR camera, but at least I had Hank (my point and shoot) and I was able to capture a bit of the serenditous moment.
Yesterday was the opening ceremony for the Olympics. I love the olympics and that's saying a lot since I'm not a huge sports fan. But the olympics are different. I love the stories. I love the way the athletes push themselves to the max. I choke up when I see their faces on the gold medal podium. It's inspiring and moving. I just love it! I was so disappointed to miss the opening ceremony and much of the summer olympics in 2008 because Bluejay and I got married during the opening ceremony. I LOVED having our wedding on 08.08.08 and going to Mexico with Bluejay on our honeymoon. But I missed the Olympics. Bluejay and I like to joke about it now. We joke about that first night when I was sleeping and Bluejay turned on the Olympics on mute so as not to wake me and when I woke he told me he wanted to talk all night. I just wanted to sleep. Weddings wear you out! So this year, I was determined to see the opening ceremony. We had an opening ceremony PARTY! We invited some good friends over and I made cupcakes in the shape of the Olympic rings. We had a grand ole time! I'm really looking forward to snuggling up with Bluejay and a pot of tea to watch the Olympics each night!
