Kate is my sister, Stacey's, roommate. Kate and Stace are so cute. I remember hearing all about her fun new roomies when Stacey moved in to the house last year. I heard all these stories about how cute Kate is and how wonderful her boyfriend Simon is. I remember hearing about how Simon was going to propose. Stacey was thrilled that she got to be apart of the proposal. All her roomies/friends and his roomies/friends guided Kate on a scavenger hunt of sorts. The best kind of scavenger hunt. The kind the ends in romance, roses, candles and a diamond ring. And let me tell you, Simon did a great job with the ring!
I've met Kate several times. But when her and Simon walked up to meet me at Aster Cafe for their engagement session I realized all over again how much I liked her. She was beaming. All engaged girls beam. But this was different. She proudly held up he Red Starbucks cup and with a smile said, "Starbucks started their red Christmas cups this week!" Instant chemistry. If there is one thing I love as much as photography, it's coffee. Especially "Christmas" coffee! All that roasted, cinnamon, coffee goodness wrapped in a red Christmas cup... heaven! It warms your soul on a cold winters day. Yum!
Ok, where was I? Oh yeah. Simon & Kate. Kate studied in London this summer and is now finishing up at the U and Simon is on Staff with Campus Crusade. As we were shooting, there were times that I forgot to take pictures because they were just to sweet. It reminded me what it was like to be so young and in love. I went home and I hugged Bluejay and looked into his eyes and kissed him like I used to when we were engaged. The way that Kate looked into Simon's eyes. So full of love. It was wonderful. When I asked when they were getting married, Kate groaned that it wasn't until next May. They held hands as we walked and talked about how they wished it was tomorrow. They were such great clients. They made my job easy. It's easy to shoot couples who really love to love each other. It's much more fun than posing a couple to appear in love.
I have to say that Simon is a keeper, Kate. But you know that! As we were wrapping up for the night, a drunk man came over and shook my hand and began telling me that I needed to send my photos to Oprah (?). The instant that drunk man came over, Simon was between us ladies and any potential harm. He was so protective. The sweet part is that he wasn't just protecting Kate, but me too. It wasn't really all that dangerous, but it was so cute that he stepped up just in case. Kate, you are marrying a wonderful man. I am so happy for you both! Keep trusting in Jesus and remember that love is patient. May will be here soon!
