Colorado Wedding

Here is a sneak peek from our first destination wedding... well, destination for me and Bluejay... COLORADO! We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I am definitely addicted to the mountains and have had to go through detox upon returning home to Mn. I find myself looking out every westerly facing window hoping to find the Rockies. Much to my disappointment, all I see are twiggy trees and brown grass. But I'm counting my blessings that there is no trace of snow or ice anywhere! I even got a twinge of sunburn as I wrote some thank you notes outside! Spring has sprung! Horray!

Bri and Devin are the most adorable couple! They were even gracious enough to allow Bluejay to get his feet wet with wedding photography as I have been training him in to assist me. All I had to do is explain shooting in manual settings and set him free. It was extra fun to share in the joy of the newlyweds as we looked back and were reminded of our own wedding day together. Quite romantic! Bluejay enjoyed it so much, that he has already started calling Hopefeathers photography a husband/wife photography team and wants to be apart of every wedding I'm booked for in 2010! Sounds like fun to me :) Here is a little sneak peek from Bri & Devin's special day. Bluejay took the first photo.

Baby John

Lindsey and Colby are on staff with Campus Outreach (the college ministry of Bethlehem Baptist Church) at Bethel's campus. When I was in grad school at Bethel, Lindsey and I were really close. I remember quite vividly crying on her couch a few springs ago when Bluejay and I broke up for a bit. Now, obviously, it worked out between Bluejay and myself. And I would have to say that things have worked out quite well for Lindsey too. Just over two years ago she announced to a small group of Bethel students and myself that she and Colby were having a baby! I was so happy for them that I cried. I'm kinda emotional I guess. Little Ellie Jane was born the same week that Bluejay and I got married. Fast forward a year and a half and Baby John has arrived as well! If anyone can handle having a toddler and a newborn, it's Lindsey. She's like a master homemaker and mom. It's really inspiring. The month before John was born, she made and froze enough dinners to last their family a whole month! Who has time for that when they are 8 months pregnant! Like I said, supermom!

Baby John was so sweet. We had originally talked about doing photos when he was only a couple weeks old, but life got busy. So we finally did the photos this week. Even though he is only 6 weeks old, he's already in 3-6 months clothes! He's a big boy! After spending an hour smelling his sweet baby skin and hearing his tiny squeaky cry and focusing on all his little details I knew it was going to be trouble. Cute babies always give me a little itch to have a baby bird of our own *Sigh* Someday...someday. For now, I will simply relish every newborn session I can get! Baby John, you are too cute for words!

Aw!!! tiny baby yawn!
Ellie Jane was very concerned when Baby John cried. But we put his pacifier in for a bit and that made it all better.

Amazing Race

Sarah & Marcy are two dear friends of mine. They are potentially about to embark on something fabulous! They are applying for the Amazing Race. I think that they would be so fun to watch, and I'm not even biased! Ok, maybe I am. But how fun would it be to see your friends on primetime TV competing against other pairs as they race around the world? They are an odd couple: tall and short, blond and brunette, one born in Kenya, and one born a twin. But these friends are also a perfect pair: both competitive, adventurous and ambitious. Both LOVE Jesus Christ. Both are gorgeous and single (yes... that's right! You want their numbers? haha). For their applications for the Amazing Race, they needed a 8x10 pic. We went out this morning and braved the windchill for some portraits. The tough part is that they can only choose one to send in! I'm glad I don't have to make the decision, because they are all so cute!
I think this last one is my favorite. But then I got back and look at the others and I can't decide! You girls are GORGEOUS!
