home for the holidays
In less than 9 hours I get to hug my mom! My mom and I are buddies- we're real close. So when her and my dad moved to California, I was bummed to say the least. We talk on the phone daily and she knows every little detail of my life, but it's not the same as getting a mommy hug! The kind of hug that is so tight and familiar and is accompanied by a hum. A hum? Is that weird? Maybe just my family? Anyways, I can't wait to get a hum hug tonight! And the best part is... she's here until New Years! That's a lot of daily coffee shop trips! First we'll make snow angels for a two hours, then we'll go ice skating, then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookie dough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle (Elf). I'm going to cherish this time together! And I know that I will miss my dad even more when my mom arrives because he doesn't come until Christmas Eve. We will be at Bluejay's Moms house then. So when we wake up on Christmas morning, my favoritest gift I receive will be seeing my dad! Love you guys!
This photo makes me giggle so much! It was a family vacation in Chicago before I got married. Haha!
Abe & Lindsey
I have know Lindsey since forever. Sorta. She was apart of our fearless foursome in middle school. Me, her, Laura, and Emily. We were buddies. We were friends from church youth group who became each others safety net when middle school was awkward and intimidating. I remember countless sleepovers and doing dumb things like freezing someone's underwear and dyeing our hair with hydrogen peroxide. I remember forging our parents signature on notes to excuse us from school to have lunch with our youth group leader, when we were actually running two blocks away to order a pizza at Lindsey's Grandma's house (who was also playing hooky!). Middle School crushes, youth group retreats, passing notes between classes... I remember it all! In high school we gained confidence and our little group expanded to include more friends. In college, we went our separate ways. I haven't heard from Lindsey in nearly seven years! Then out of the blue, I got a message from her. "I'm getting married in May and already I booked a photographer, but I am cutting my losses with her because I WANT YOU instead!" Wow! Compliment?
Lindsey and I had coffee at Overflow Café in Minneapolis and caught up on the past seven years. We laughed and sipped steaming mochas and chatted for hours. I asked how she met Abe. She smiled, and with a twinkle in her eye she said coyly, "Don't laugh... on match.com." I couldn't laugh. Normally, I am skeptical when it comes to meeting your true love on the internet and I might have chuckled a bit. However, when I looked in her eyes and saw them light up when I mentioned his name, I knew I couldn't tease for I could see that she loved him deeply. He swept her off her feet and she fell in love! I sipped my coffee as I listened to tell the tale of how Abe proposed.
Abe travels for days on end for his job. Which means, that his weekends home are very precious. So he decided to do something fun and take Lindsey to Mall of America to get a mobil family plan together and also to go on rides in the park. Little did Lindsey know that this seemingly simple date was going to change her life! As they walked through the park, Abe asked Lindsey if she wanted a caricature drawn of them. Of course she said yes! So they sat down and had the artist get to work. Abe told Lindsey he wanted to see the finished product first, to make sure it looked okay. Once he approved, Lindsey came to look. She loved it! Then she noticed that in the caricature, Abe was holding something...a ring? And he had a "word bubble" saying, "will you marry me?" Thinking it was a joke, she turned to Abe to show him, and Abe was standing there holding a ring to propose! And that's the beginning of their love story!
Minnesota has some frigid temperatures, in case you were unaware! We were waiting for some snow before we took engagement photos, and last week we got a blizzard! Perfect timing! Me and Bluejay and Abe and Lindsey headed to downtown St. Paul for some winter wonderland engagement photos! IT WAS COLD! We had some much fun together. I am REALLY looking forward to shooting their wedding in May! Lets hope for warmer weather then! Especially since it's outdoors!

We got cold, so we had a little warm up break at Starbucks. But I could stop taking pictures! They were too cute to pass up!
We may or may not have "borrowed" that love mitten/ornament from our little Starbucks run. And to think I got teased for this! It's so cute!
