Jose Villa is one of the Nations best wedding/event photographers. He's AWESOME! His blog is definitely in my RSS feed. He is hosting a give-a-way on his blog this week. What is it? Only the most FABULOUS give-a-way ever! A scholarship to a photography workshop in Mexico! According to Jose Villa, "The scholarship will cover a 4 day wedding photography workshop in Ahualulco De Mercado, Mexico at Hacienda El Carman built 350 years ago. We’ve got you covered on a round trip airfare to Mexico. All 5 days will be covered at the Hacienda El Carmen, all meals, and we’ll even throw in a spa treatment." All I had to do was create a 12 second video to enter. Jose will choose his favorite 3 videos and then put it to a vote. My mind was racing with ideas. As it turns out, 12 seconds really isn't that much time! So yesterday, Bluejay and I went out with my camera and created a series of photos that I would format to black and white with red accents and load them into iMovie to create this time-lapse film. My point & shoot camera
Since I got my DSLR I have forgotten how much I used to LOVE my little point and shoot lovingly named Hank. I knew every setting and understood exactly what I needed to do to produce an image that was exactly as I wanted. When I got my DSLR I spent hours upon hours learning everything about it. I learned about the exposure and aperture and ISO settings. It was a whole new world. I loved it. But every now and again I look back at my little Hank and marvel at his simplicity. Brandy and Danna over at twophotogs have created a photographers challenge called "don't touch that DSLR". So here are some images from good old Hank:
Textures
Using texture isn't something that I have done often. In my editing, I tend to gravitate toward crisp colorful photos. I have always LOVED the whimsical look I have seen other photogs achieve in their texture editing. I am glad for the i{heart}faces challenge this week. It gave me a chance to hop out of my box a bit and play with using textures in my processing. This is a photo I took of my dear friends new baby, little Hallie, this summer. She was so dreamy and in a sleepy haze that I think the texture enhances. I love this little baby yawn! I could just hug her forever! It's hard to believe she was ever this small! Now she is a chubby little ball of smiles at six months!
